Part 2: First Trip To Melbourne - Acland Street, St Kilda

Acland Street, St Kilda

We were fortunate enough that one of the ladies decided to take us out to a place in Acland Street, St Kilda. This is a short drive out of the CBD not far from Lunar Park (can’t miss this place in the dark). There are a string of eateries offering alfresco dining (more of those outdoor umbrellas with heaters) and a few pastry shops too. I can’t remember the place we went given the foreign surroundings, but I bet it was Zenith as I’ve frantically searched for what the name of this place is that we ate at. I remember across the road there were 3 pastry shops which we did pop into one of them after our meal. It is at Zenith, I believe, I shared a paella for 2. This meal is the best meal I have ever eaten at any restaurant. The rice had a lovely fish stock flavour and you just wanted to keep on eating it. But then you were distracted by the chicken, prawns, Moreton Bay bugs, squid and every other ingredient that went into this dish. This definitely wasn’t a meal for 2. I reckon 4 could have comfortably enjoyed this or at least 3. What a serving! Our host took this home given we were in hotels and flying out the next day. I can’t rave on anymore about how delicious this meal was.

Verdict: Best meal I’ve ever had, another place with an interesting ambience so unlike what we have at Perth. Maybe I haven’t yet found such a place in Perth though.
Price: Reasonable
Taste: Delicious
Value: Excellent, worth every cent for such a tasty meal.
Recommendation: Highly Recommend

Restaurant Rating System

It's subjective but I base my reviews on 4 key areas:

Price: Bargain > Reasonable > Moderately Expensive > Expensive
Taste: Poor > Average > Great > Delicious
Value: Poor > Good > Reasonable > Excellent
Recommendation: Eat At Home Instead > Try Once If You Want But Not Worth Visiting Again > Worth Visiting > Recommend > Highly Recommend

The final recommendation will consider the price, taste and value. Value will be based on price and other factors like service and serving size.
