Location: Perth CBD
We’ve had an end of year work function hosted here and as a venue, the place is excellent. On a warm summers day, the windows can be opened up and as well as the plastic window drop dow coverings that let more breeze in. It took a bit of time for the canapes to come out which weren’t all that great to start with but got much better as the night went on. However, this time around, I was fortunate to be invited with my boss by some members of one our corporate partners that are based on the east but were in the west for some work related events. We had started with some tasting plates which included a miniature calzoni, a single tortellini with a lovely sauce served in those Chinese wide spoons (the type you get when you have chicken soup at a Chinese food restaurant), and some baby octopus. I really enjoyed the calzoni and the other offerings were pretty good, but what blew me away was the octopus. It definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. Generally cooking octopus and squid can be dangerous as it can end up very tough and rubber. Not so this dish which was oh so tender and immersed in a delicious sauce. Can’t remember what I ordered but it was tasty. I was disappointed we had to head off because I rather fancied a run at the dessert menu.
Verdict: This Italian restaurant certainly can pump out some delicious food. The octopus was a standout.
Price: Moderately Expensive
Value: Excellent, glad I wasn’t picking up the bill!
