Location: Perth CBD, Shafto Lane
Taka’s Kitchen situated down the ever popular Shafto Lane is a place I’ve visited many a times and again today. I was first introduced to this place a few years ago when I first started working in the city by one of my uni mates who worked close by. I didn’t visit again for a few years but started going there again over the last year and trying the different dishes on offer. It’s extremely busy, absolutely packed, good range of dishes as well as sushi and chinese tea which you can help yourself too and other sauces. Prices are an absolute bargain and the service is pretty quick considering the long lines. It’s a bit like fast food but far tastier. Meal sizes come in medium and large. With the large you may also get a cup of delicious miso soup included. I’ve tried the chicken katsu, chicken karaage, teriyaki fish, plain udon soup, and their sushi on prior occasions. Always delicious.
Today, I caught up with ex-work mates and was lucky to grab a table in amongst the lunchtime crowd. We all grabbed some tea, took our wireless timers and waited for our meals to be ready. I went for the Japanese curry where you have to choose a topping. I didn’t know what this meant but chose chicken katsu from the list. I think what they do is you pick a meal and then they put the curry over it. The chicken katsu Japanese curry I opted for was delicious. Meals generally come with a bowl of steamed rice, shredded raw cabbage, and preserved ginger. Once again, an enjoyable meal with great company.
Verdict: Bargain prices, fast food, dine in or take away if you’re in a hurry. Plenty to choose from and all so delicious.
Value: Excellent, can’t get any better
Recommendation: Highly Recommend
