Thali Contemporary Indian

Cuisine: Indian
Location: Perth CBD, Carillon City Underground Food Court

I know from young after visiting many Indian restaurants, I was far from impressed and could quite honestly say I got better Indian food at any of my family’s place. In recent times, I think Cinnamon on the Park probably had the best taste but this has been surpassed by an eatery in the Carillon City underground food hall. One of the guys at work mentioned this place and particularly the butter chicken, which is also a favourite of mine. There’s a great selection with different meal combo’s. I tried the butter chicken, lamb korma and rice for just $8. I really enjoyed the butter chicken and thought, finally, authentic Indian food! I went back the next day and got the same combo with different curries for mum & dad to try. They loved it and have gone back again. At this stage, I’ve only tried those two curries but there are several meat and vegetable curries to try, samosa, naan (bread) and other selections on the menu. For an eatery in a food court, the food is impressive.

Verdict: Delicious authentic Indian food at excellent prices. Try the butter chicken which is a standout. For me, the best Indian food I’ve had so far.

Restaurant Rating System

It's subjective but I base my reviews on 4 key areas:

Price: Bargain > Reasonable > Moderately Expensive > Expensive
Taste: Poor > Average > Great > Delicious
Value: Poor > Good > Reasonable > Excellent
Recommendation: Eat At Home Instead > Try Once If You Want But Not Worth Visiting Again > Worth Visiting > Recommend > Highly Recommend

The final recommendation will consider the price, taste and value. Value will be based on price and other factors like service and serving size.
