Cuisine: Modern Australian
Location: Perth CBD, lane-ways off Murray Street
A new team member joined our department which meant we must have a welcoming lunch. After a bit of look around at a few places, The Secret Garden was chosen. It was a cold horrible winters day but, fortunately for us, the rain held off. I didn’t know all these winding hidden lane-ways existed where The Secret Garden is located off Murray Street. There’s in fact a number of eateries, including a back entrance to the Country Road Cafe which I have visited a few times. As is my custom, I always like to have a look at the menu before we go to the restaurant to plan how I will approach my meal. I decided on the Morrocan beef burger with caramelised onion, swiss cheese, tomato relish, lettuce and aioli, served with hand-cut chips.
After a short wait, out come a nice large and chunky meaty burger with slightly chunky chips with the potato skins still on. The burger had a lovely toasted and tasty bun with the caramelised red onion which was lovely, the tasty flavoured burger and melted cheese. I really enjoyed the burger which was filling. The chips were tasty too but could have done with a bit more salt which would have made all the difference. The potato skins still left on gave an extra dimension and texture which contributed to the taste.
Food Review Summary
Verdict: One can dine outside or dine in the nice homely setting. The place has a nice feel to it and my burger and chips were delicious, leaving me more than satisfied.
