Nagoya Japanese Restaurant - 28 Feb 2012

Cuisine: Japanese
Location: East Perth

I was riding on the bus travelling through the Perth CBD and passed this new Japanese restaurant called Nagoya Japanese Restaurant. It must be new or I haven’t been very observant so I had a quick look to try and find this restaurant to see some reviews and made the trip to try it out. Situated just before Victoria Avenue on Adelaide Terrace, the restaurant has a large dining area both inside and out. Nothing fancy, quite plain, but I wasn’t too bothered. There’s plenty to choose from the menu so I settled on chicken karaage bento. I grabbed my ticket after paying and waited for my number to be called out and then took my bento box, grabbed some cutlery, and took a table outside. Lovely sitting in the warm sun which got far hotter unfortunately as the day progressed.

The great thing about the bento box is the variety. My chicken karaage bento came with a decent serve of lightly battered tender chicken; steamed rice; shredded cabbage; 2 sushi; fruit salad; pickled ginger; and a sachet of soya sauce for the sushi. The chicken was tasty but not as good as Jun’s. I enjoyed the fact some dressing was added to the shredded cabbage which brought out the freshness of the cabbage and made it enjoyable to eat. Other restaurants have no dressing so the cabbage is dry and tasteless. One vegetarian sushi was provided which had avocado and was lovely. The other sushi was filled with tasty roasted pork. I particularly enjoyed this sushi. The other elements were enjoyable and the meal was more than filling. Lovely afternoon lunch.

Nagoya Japanese Food Review Summary

Verdict: If you’re in the mood for Japanese and you’re in East Perth, head down to Nagoya for dine in or takeaway. They have a range of dishes to choose from and the place seems popular as there was a steady stream of people coming and going and taking tables to enjoy their lunch. I enjoyed my chicken karaage bento and was filling. A cheap eat that is still tasty.

Restaurant Rating System

It's subjective but I base my reviews on 4 key areas:

Price: Bargain > Reasonable > Moderately Expensive > Expensive
Taste: Poor > Average > Great > Delicious
Value: Poor > Good > Reasonable > Excellent
Recommendation: Eat At Home Instead > Try Once If You Want But Not Worth Visiting Again > Worth Visiting > Recommend > Highly Recommend

The final recommendation will consider the price, taste and value. Value will be based on price and other factors like service and serving size.
