Superstar Waffles - 28 Aug 2012

Cuisine: Dessert
Location: Northbridge, side plaza on William St

I have a more recent food review of Superstar Waffles here.

I can’t remember what I was looking up on Urbanspoon but saw Superstar Waffles on the Talk of the Town list. Sounds good so I clicked on the entry to see more and liked the look of it especially since it’s a quick walk over the other side of the train station and you’re there in Northbridge. Given our team was all present on a Tuesday, we had a bit of an afternoon out to eat waffles. After you’ve crossed over to Northbridge via the horseshoe bridge, a side plaza on William Street reveals a bunch more shops hidden away and where Superstar Waffles resides. We entered in to the smallish shop and took a table along with a few menus from the front counter. The place has an interesting feel with a slight Japanese influence judging by the paintings hanging about. We went to the counter and placed our orders and patiently waited. Word of warning, cash only, but given the prices won’t break the bank, wasn’t too much of an issue.

I ordered the banoffee waffle as did a few other colleagues. During our pi day a few entrants were banoffee pies which I’d never heard of nor eaten. However, they were yum so I decided to try the waffle version. The toffee was a bit thick and gooey with a fine sprinkling of biscuit crumb. The generous sized waffle was thick and had risen with some height and were amazing! A sliced banana sat atop the toffee and cream was on the side. I also opted for vanilla ice cream (chocolate also available), and combining all the elements together made for an absolutely delicious comforting meal which we all enjoyed. We all ate waffles except one colleague who chose waffle on a stick and was expecting something much smaller than was served. A decent sized waffle on a long stick with chocolate sauce made for a tantalizing delight but was hard to eat without getting the chocolate sauce on your face. One could argue this is a sign of enjoyment!

Superstar Waffles Food Review Summary

Verdict: I really enjoyed the waffles served here and can’t wait to come back for multiple visits. My co-workers have the same idea but a weekly event may be a bit much, particularly, for the waist line. But we’ve certainly stumbled upon a great place to eat some delicious waffles in pleasant surrounds and indulge in something absolutely delicious. They are filling and will leave you full and satisfied. Remember to bring cash.

Restaurant Rating System

It's subjective but I base my reviews on 4 key areas:

Price: Bargain > Reasonable > Moderately Expensive > Expensive
Taste: Poor > Average > Great > Delicious
Value: Poor > Good > Reasonable > Excellent
Recommendation: Eat At Home Instead > Try Once If You Want But Not Worth Visiting Again > Worth Visiting > Recommend > Highly Recommend

The final recommendation will consider the price, taste and value. Value will be based on price and other factors like service and serving size.
