The Burger Bistro - 12 Nov 2012

Cuisine: Burgers
Location: Perth CBD, Shafto Lane (other locations too)

Today, I visited The Burger Bistro for lunch, continuing my burger crusade after recent visits to Grill’d and The Shack, plus a burger at The Merrywell. I met a friend and took a stroll down Shafto Lane on a lovely bright sunny day. We walked in and had a quick look at the menu before placing our orders at the counter. I ordered the Beef Big Smoke and a serve of chips. As with other burger joints, there are chicken, lamb and vegetarian options available, but the menu is skewed towards beef and chicken.

Since it was such a lovely day, we managed to grab a table outside. After a reasonable wait, our orders were brought out. Cutlery and a serviette are at the table too. The spelt sourdough buns are sourced from New Norcia Bakeries and are made from spelt which helps those with wheat allergies. They also have more nutritional value than wheat and are sugarless.

I took one bite and loved it. Delicious! Real meaty flavour from the juicy and well cooked beef patty with delicious BBQ sauce (that also started running down my hands) that complemented the strong smoky flavour of the beef. One bite and I was hooked. Now this was a burger and was far superior to that at Grill’d and The Shack. You could instantly taste the smokey flavour and the lovely bacon and melting cheese were superb. The chips were nice and soft and fluffly, perfectly deep fried and tasty. I haven’t eaten spelt sourdough buns before but that was good too, though I prefer the wheat variety.

The Burger Bistro Food Review Summary

Verdict: Within the first bite I knew this was the burger I’ve been craving. Smokey flavour imparted into the juicy beef patty, the distinctive taste of bacon, melting cheese and the sweetness from the BBQ sauce to top it off. I enjoyed every bite. The lightly toasted spelt sourdough bun was something different and enjoyable too. I enjoyed the lovely crisp soft fluffy chips. Well worth the money and a filling meal.

Restaurant Rating System

It's subjective but I base my reviews on 4 key areas:

Price: Bargain > Reasonable > Moderately Expensive > Expensive
Taste: Poor > Average > Great > Delicious
Value: Poor > Good > Reasonable > Excellent
Recommendation: Eat At Home Instead > Try Once If You Want But Not Worth Visiting Again > Worth Visiting > Recommend > Highly Recommend

The final recommendation will consider the price, taste and value. Value will be based on price and other factors like service and serving size.
