Cuisine: Cafe, Breakfast
Location: New Zealand, Wellington
Since my breakfast choice was shut on Easter Monday I tried the place I skipped yesterday which was open, Olive Cafe. It’s a small little place also open for dinner. Reminds me of something you would find in Melbourne.
I chose the buttermilk pancakes, maple syrup, fresh and candied figs for NZ$16 (with surcharge for public holiday NZ$18.40).
These pancakes were light and fluffy but what I really liked about them is the crunchy exterior which made them taste amazing. Dipping a piece in some maple syrup, having some slightly sweet candied figs and balancing out the sweetness with the fresh figs was yum.
Olive Café Food Review Summary
Verdict: A lovely little café with a nice cosy feel. The café also opens for dinner. I had the buttermilk pancakes which were fluffy and had a lovely crunchy exterior which turned them into something amazing. Dipped with a bit of maple syrup, some candied figs for a little more sweetness, and fresh charred figs to counteract the sweetness and it made a fantastic start to the day.
