I’ve been working long hours of late and Friday was no different. Fortunately the pulled pork from Meat Me In The City kept me going but after finally calling it a day, my stomach was definitely in need of feeding. So I made my way to the Twliight Hawkers market and took a round to see what was on display. I wasn’t really sure what I fancied but I decided to head to the Korean stall and finally try bulgogi.

I keep seeing this dish but have yet to eat it until now. I was glad I did because it was fantastic! Wow, I didn’t know meat could taste so good! It’s sliced really finely and is very tender, but the flavour it embellishes is just unbelievable! Served with steamed rice, the flavour of the beef and the residual marinade makes the steamed rice very enjoyable and is an excellent meal at $13, a bit extra for some cheese which really isn’t needed. I’ve had some Korean food which is very different each place I go (special call out to The Gaya in Applecross which is excellent) and trying this new meal will probably see me seeking out more Korean restaurants.

Twilight hawkers markets are open every Friday till 24 April 2015, so make sure you head down to Forrest Chase between 4:30-9pm to sample some cuisines from various cultures. It’s cash only and remember that these are not necessarily professional kitchens, you might need to have some patience while your meal is prepared, especially if there are long queues, so get in early and enjoy.
