Cuisine: American, BBQ, Sandwiches
Location: Perth CBD, lower level of Trinity Arcade
If you haven’t heard, there’s a butcher in the city, Meat Me in the City, so one doesn’t have to go far to get some lovely meat. Situated on the lower level of Trinity Arcade (ground level from Hay St, one floor down from Murray), it lies in the open food court area. You can come by and pick up your meats and/or, go next door and pick up some items from their American meat styled menu. I came especially for the menu after someone at work mentioned they enjoyed a lovely beef brisket. One of the menu items had already sold out but I had my eye on the pulled pork.
Slow smoked pulled pork, pretzel bun with ‘Slaw and the mother of all BBQ mayo
Meat Me in the City Food Review Summary
Verdict: The ‘Mothership’ burger carries a generous serving of pork, but it’s more on the dry side. This is a continuing trend with eateries attempting to serve pulled pork. Fortunately, they had a sweetish BBQ sauce to add some pep to the meal. The pretzel style bun was also something unique and was quite tasty. The dish also came with a serving of coleslaw which had a lovely peppery aniseed flavour, using red and green cabbage along with a lovely mayo, although it was a bit too sweet. Pretty good meal and good value at $9.50.
Recommendation: Worth Visiting Again
