New York Diner Set for Perth
Food visionary, Denny Nehme, is bringing a taste of New York to 140, an urban destination where food, art and retail collide on transformed laneways in the Perth CBD, with the opening of East Village.
Serving classic American fare – hot dogs, pizza, waffles and sundaes – East Village will open its doors on 18 May.
Nehme has extensive experience in the food industry, owning and operating iconic Perth venues such as, The Cutting Board Eat House, Basilica and Green Grocer.
Inspired by his travels to America, Denny, has been keen to create an American feel restaurant with an ‘Australian touch’ for many years.
“East Village has been a work in progress. The concept has moved with recent trends and I’m excited that we’re now able to bring a unique menu and concept to Perth that’s in keeping with the true classic style that is a New York diner,” Nehme said.
Retail and hospitality design specialists, Faculty Design, brought the urban fitout of East Village to life, creating a diner meets laneway warehouse experience. Polished concrete floors are matched with dark timbers, glossy tiles and copper accents. The interior includes communal seating, booths and an open kitchen to bring patrons closer to the action.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, East Village will serve American beer on tap, cocktail jugs, original rueben on rye – a hot corned beef sandwich, with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing – pulled pork and slaw burgers and grand central hotdogs.
140 is defining itself as a unique food and beverage destination, with East Village the latest addition to excite foodies of Perth.
