World’s Hottest Food Trends Showcased at Taste of Perth in partnership with Electrolux
PERTH, WA: Returning for a second year, Taste of Perth in Partnership with Electrolux is showcasing the cutting edge of global culinary trends with this year’s mouth-watering menus. Visitors can enjoy a variety of dishes from Nobu’s Wagyu Carpaccio, Bib & Tucker’s rosella flower cured kingfish, Next Door at No4’s 45 day dry aged organic grass fed beef, to Mary’s Street Bakery Doughnuts.
In response to visitor feedback from 2014, the festival has introduced a lower priced dish option this year. The starting price to sample some of the delights of Perth’s finest restaurants is as low as $6. Food lovers can purchase tickets now to The World’s Greatest Restaurant Festival on at Langley Park from 15th to 17th May 2015.
Each restaurant will serve a select pick of their most reputable dishes, festival exclusives and an inventive icon dish – the ‘must-try’ menu items that truly represent the restaurant. With over 50 dishes to choose from, gastronomes can invent their own dream tasting menu.
This year sees Perth’s top chefs drawing inspiration from around the globe and fusing these international flavours with local produce. Highlights include: Asado’s ceviche using local market fish infused with avocado, coriander, lime, chilli, cherry tomatoes with house tortilla chips; el Público is channelling Mexican street food with their braised and fried corn cobs and pork belly tacos, while Propeller takes us to the Middle East with duck bistayeea and Israeli carrot salad.
Taking cues from Korea are Mary’s with their pigs head terrine, and fried chicken wings with kewpie mayo and roe, and Bib & Tucker with a suckling pig slider with kimchi slaw and kewpie mayo.
While we see a lot of new influences on the menu, it appears that the classics never seem to go out of fashion; Bistro Guillaume perfects French cuisine with chicken liver parfait while Modo Mio serves osso bucco Milanese and tiramisu with gusto!
Delicacies to keep a look out for are Bib & Tucker’s Flinders Island Wallaby Shank – puffed wild rice, pickled grape agrodolce with Head Chef, Scott Bridger demoing his dish in the Electrolux Taste Theatre. Propeller’s grilled octopus with peas, smoked almonds and feta salad and Print Hall’s potato and stinging nettle risotto are also not to be missed.
Simon Wilson, Event Director of Taste of Perth in partnership with Electrolux said, “We’ll have a great cross section of food offerings this year, from the very new, very cutting edge Korean/Asian fusion offering from Mary’s, to the use of native ingredients such as native myrtle in Print Hall’s Cambinata Yabbie dish, to the Argentinean open flame meat cooking techniques from Asado.”
Returning by popular demand is Nobu’s Linley Valley Pork Belly with spicy miso caramel sauce & ginger salsa which was last year’s highest selling dish. Also returning is el Público’s Flavours of Mexico – featuring fried crickets, chicharon and two village mezcals, Lalla Rookh’s sell-out Nonna’s Meatballs, and the ever-so-decadent Valhrona chocolate garden by Next Door at No.4.
