I’d popped into Five Bar after work to meet one of the reps from Zomato where I was fortunate to receive a gift bag which had a bunch of yummy stuff. I’m still working my way through but special shout out to:
- Carina’s Kitchen – Carina’s Kitchen salted caramel pretzel was so delicious! A really lovely moist cake with a rich salted caramel icing on top, all served inside a jar, really unique. Loved it.
- Dark Side Chocolates – When I took a road trip in the south west earlier in the year I loved Dark Side Chocolates which I ate at a farmer’s market in Denmark. I was really excited to get some of their chocolates in my gift bag and boy were they delicious! Superb.
After that I was all set for dinner but my intended destination was closed! Really disappointed, I had to jump on the Zomato app of all things and find a suitable restaurant that took my fancy so I settled on Goreng2 which serves Malaysian style cuisine and has been going since 2005. The casual restaurant isn’t particularly large but there’s plenty of tables and the staff are very friendly. It’s obviously a popular takeaway favourite as several people dropped by to pick up their takeaway orders. I had a quick look at the menu and settled on char kway teow and after a pretty short wait, a large hot steaming plate was presented:
Char Kway Teow $12.90
Goreng2 Food Review Summary
Verdict: Goreng2 presents diners with a range of Malaysian inspired dishes that are made fresh to order for you to enjoy in the casual relaxed surrounds or as takeaway. I was really hungry and I ordered the char kway teow which was served in a jiffy. I loved the char kway teow with lots of juicy prawns and tender squid rings. The noodles had a lovely flavour and the whole dish was satisfying. Yum!
