Location: East Perth – cnr Bennett and Goderich St
I happened to be in East Perth and noticed a new restaurant opened up, Maruzzella Restaurant, so I hopped the CAT bus and made my way there for lunch. They open in the mornings for coffee, lunch and dinner 7 days a week, though weekends also offer breakfast. There’s a range of entrees and mains to choose from including pizza and they also do takeaway. I noticed on their website they also have specials so I decided to try the business special for $29.90. Today’s offering presented roasted porchetta with vegetables and a choice of desserts.
Porchetta with Vegetables, Olive Oil, Garlic, Chilli
After some time I was presented with a very generous serving of porchetta. The porchetta was beautifully cooked, moist and had a crunchy crackling. It also came with a lovely sauce. There were some veggies served alongside the dish and I really liked the olive oil with garlic and chilli for extra flavour. Typically Italian. Truly a delicious meal, generous in serving! Maybe they could cut back on the porchetta and add more veggies for greater balance as the meal is very filling and I was pretty hungry to begin with.
Chocolate Panna Cotta
For dessert I had the choice of tiramisu or chocolate panna cotta. I didn’t want anything too heavy after putting down that chunk of meat so I decided to go for the chocolate panna cotta which looked very appealing. After a short wait, my dessert was presented. It’s not overly large and was the perfect serving for what I just ate for lunch. The panna cotta had a wobble as any good panna cotta should. After one bite I was in chocolate and dessert heaven rolled into one! OMG! How amazing is this? Really smooth, not rich or creamy, nor too sweet, but just the right balance of chocolate custard that is so satisfying! While very full, I left a happy man. All that served and eaten in 1 hour.
