Location: Perth CBD – Barrack St
There are so many restaurants in the Perth CBD which I’ve yet to try nor discover but there are those which you notice and never get around to trying too. Today I decided to give one of those a go, Indonesia Indah Restaurant on Barrack Street between Wellington and Murray St Mall. Take the stairs down and it will open out into a large spacious restaurant which is peaceful and calming away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The menu has lunch time meals as well as an al a carte menu. They’ve also partnered with MenuLog so you can even get takeaway delivered.
Combination – Beef Rendang, Chicken, Vegetables, Potatoes $11.90
The lunch time meals also offer a combination option. In fact when you walk in and go to the counter, most of the meals are comprised of the foods in the display window. I decided to go with a combination and chose the beef rendang and also a spiced chicken. Along with coconut rice and a serve of vegetables and potatoes, my plate was filled with a generous serving of tasty food and it only cost $11.90 (I think the lady applied the first time discount of 15%).
Some of my work mates had already ordered so I joined them as I tucked in. First up I had a taste of the beef rendang, a typically Indonesian dish. The beef was cooked long and slow and fell apart. It was immersed in a delicious curry, was tender and full of flavour, and definitely got my stamp of approval. I enjoyed some more with the rice. The rice has been cooked in coconut with a touch of sugar as there’s a slight sweetness with every bite which makes it delicious. The chicken was full of tasty spices, though not chilli hot, and had a nice coconut flavour which had seeped through into the flesh.
Indonesia Indah Food Review Summary
Verdict: Indonesia Indah is located downstairs and presents a calming relaxing atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Offering al a carte, delivery, and lunch time meals, there’s lots to choose from. I chose the combination option of beef rendang and chicken, served with coconut rice, vegetables and potatoes. I really love beef rendang and this version was soft, tender, and full of flavour and was very very tasty. The chicken was covered in mild spices with coconut soaked into the skin and lightly fried producing a delicious flavour. The coconut rice has a touch of sweetness making each bite enjoyable and the vegetables and potatoes help to balance out the meal from the strong flavours. A hidden gem offering delicious Indonesian fare at excellent value.
