New releases, unusual wines, trendy cocktails, quality street food and entertainment will all feature at this year’s third annual City Wine event on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11, at the Urban Orchard at the Perth Cultural Centre.
City Wine organiser Richard Campbell said there would be almost 40 exhibitors at the event, which will open its doors at 4pm on Friday and 2pm on Saturday, running until 9pm on both days.
The exhibitor line-up features some of the state’s leading boutique wine producers, a range of Perth’s favourite food vendors along with a selection of craft brewers, ciders and spirits.
“There will be plenty of new releases, unusual wines and wines you haven’t yet discovered,” Mr Campbell said.
Visitors will be able to sample wines and buy a glass of wine to enjoy while listening to live music or bottles to take away which can be stored in the complimentary “wine locker” until patrons are ready to leave.
Mr Campbell said the Friday evening was typically popular with city workers and city dwellers who walked across to the Cultural Centre after work to take a relaxing look at some wines they might not have tried before.
“It is both a social occasion and a chance to discover and buy wines that are better placed for the cooler time of the year,” he said.
“The city back drop and garden setting in the popular Urban Orchard provides an ambient and more relaxed atmosphere for doing business.”
An entertainment lounge is available and the garden courtyard for visitors to enjoy a glass of wine and meal.
Settlers Ridge and Happs will have their organic and preservative-free wines available and Howling Wolves will have its popular Mojito, made from its low alcohol Cabernato wine on sale.
Entertainment is from electro/soul/beats band The Prefix from 4pm to 6pm on Saturday and 2pm to 5.30pm on Sunday.
RnB cover band Sin City will play from 6.30pm to 9pm on Friday and Hart Trio will play fresh arrangements of favourite soul, pop, R&B tunes from the 50s classics to the modern day.
Visitors to City Wine will receive a free entry coupon to go in the draw to win a selection of fine wines valued at more than $1400.
Lots of cover for both patrons and exhibitors means the event will go ahead come rain, hail or shine.
