Q International Cuisine offers something for everyone but has a menu mainly geared towards Middle Eastern, French, Mediterranean and Australian cuisines. I focused on dishes from a Middle Eastern background and started off with a refreshing, moist and tasty baba ganuj enjoyed with pita bread. I particularly enjoyed the addition of the pomegranate seeds adding a touch of sweetness and acidity to cut through the creamy flavour of the eggplant. The hummus had a strong chick pea flavour and also a hit of garlic, but it was carefully controlled to give the garlic flavour without the garlic breath. The fried kibbeh are a very meaty and filling dish. The kibbeh are slightly crunchy on the outside and contain a lightly spiced mince filling which is tasty but not intense in spice. The mixed grill presents a meat heavy dish offering a variety of skewered kebabs. I particularly liked the chicken flavoured Shish taouk and the herby flavours of the Kofta kebab. Once again, lightly spiced, subtle flavours that let the flavours of the meat shine through. The rice, salad, humuus and mayonnaise are additional elements to take the edge of the meatiness. I was stuffed and disappointed I couldn’t squeeze in a dessert. Tasty spice laden flavours without the intensity. Snag Stand - Toulouse Haute Dog & Chips

A visit to Snag Stack was fruitful. There’s a nice variety on the menu to suit your tastes so I rather like French food so I chose the Toulouse and got a side of chips. I like what they’ve done – created delicious gourmet sausages, taken a little more effort to create some other ingredients to compliment the sausage (aka the sautéed onions and creamy sauce), placed it into a delicious bun and offered some excellent chips. There doesn’t seem to be a place that does hot dogs with a variety of delicious sausages so it’s excellent to see a place like this bob up. Just need more of these types of eateries in Perth. Boss Hoss BBQ - Pulled Pork, Corn Bread, Potato Salad

I stumbled upon The Boss Hoss BBQ stall and was intrigued to see what they offered. Their menu presented 3 choices – ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. Whoo hoo pulled pork! I’m a real fan of pulled pork but have yet to come across a version that compares favourably to my travels in the US. The texture, spices, and flavours are important so for $10, with corn bread and a serve of potato salad (or coleslaw if you prefer), I thought why not. The ribs and brisket are other items I’d love to try from the US themed menu. I really enjoyed this snack which is quite filling, more something in between a snack and a meal. 11 Madison Park - Course 7: Option #2 Seared Foie Gras

I’ve never had a degustation with so many courses and while I was full, I wasn’t uncomfortable fortunately, but not far from it. It was also my first time to a world ranked restaurant and a 3 Michelin star restaurant. We entered at 7pm and left at 12:20am – yes, over 5 hrs of eating and drinking! However, it was all delivered at a comfortable pace. I loved the duck and sea bass and was amazed at what they did with tomato in creating a confit, jelly and soda. However, I can’t say I was blown away with what I ate. Maybe I’m unfairly drawing comparisons to other restaurants with courses, but the London restaurants, The Ledbury and Petreus, were far superior in flavour and far cheaper. The setting of the restaurant at 11 Madison Park is modern and smart, while the service was highly professional. Some meals had a bit of theatre and drama and while the food was prepared to a high standard and quality, in some dishes I didn’t think the ingredients always paired well in terms of flavour.
