Zensaki - 11 May 2012

On my second visit, I was more impressed. I loved the freshness and light batter of the soft shell crab which was an excellent entree. The small serve of teriyaki fish was an ample size and I loved the crunch of the fish with the flavours of the teriyaki sauce and steamed rice which rounded off an excellent lunch. . . . → Read More: Zensaki – 11 May 2012

Zensaki - 7 May 2012

A really good meal at jusr $12, the ramen noodles and broth went well on a cold winters day with lovely flavours complemented by the chicken karaage providing the protein component and a different teture with the crunchy deep fried coating. I definitely want to come back to try the other offerings on the menu. Plenty on the menu to suit everyone. . . . → Read More: Zensaki – 7 May 2012

Shiro Izakaya - 22 Mar 2012

I really enjoyed the ambience the restaurant provides on a lovely warm sunny day. The lunch sets are excellent value and a great way to sample various elements of Japanese cuisine via the variety offered. The serves were generous and once you have a few bites of sashimi, sushi, or tempura, munch on the garden salad, sip your miso soup, and enjoy spoonfuls of the donburi, you will feel very full, probably too full. I enjoyed all the elements offered, in particular the sashimi and tempura, and enjoyed trying something new in the donburri which was yet another way to enjoy rice. The service was excellent throughout our meal and the desserts rounded things off. . . . → Read More: Shiro Izakaya – 22 Mar 2012

Iku Sushi - 13 Mar 2012

As per my last vist, I think the setting, service and friendliness were standout features of Iku Sushi. I really enjoyed trying more sushi from their cheeseburger range. Quite an unusual idea in deep frying sushi, by the crunch of those Panko crumbs and the slightly melted cheese are interesting elements that you will enjoy. I really loved the beef version and that spicy tang from something in the sushi really added lots of flavour and lived up the dish. The bacon, mushroom and beef version was enjoyable to, but paled in comparison to the beef. For just $8.95, the 6 pack cheeseburger sushu is excellent value and getting another 6 pack free even better. They are rich, so maybe a 4 pack with something else off the menu might be worthwhile. . . . → Read More: Iku Sushi – 13 Mar 2012

Nagoya Japanese Restaurant - 28 Feb 2012

If you’re in the mood for Japanese and you’re in East Perth, head down to Nagoya for dine in or takeaway. They have a range of dishes to choose from and the place seems popular as there was a steady stream of people coming and going and taking tables to enjoy their lunch. I enjoyed my chicken karaage bento and was filling. A cheap eat that is still tasty. . . . → Read More: Nagoya Japanese Restaurant – 28 Feb 2012

Jun's Japanese - 2 Feb 2012

For $12,80, you can’t get a more generous meal with so much variety. Each component is lovely in itself and the combination of a squeeze of lemon, hot English mustard, dipping of Terriyaki and the crunchy tender pork went down well. . . . → Read More: Jun’s Japanese – 2 Feb 2012

Jun's Japanese - 19 Jan 2012

I throughly enjoyed my meal and loved the oh so delicious crunchy pieces of succulent chicken. Fantastic! A little more pricier at $11.80 (by a few bucks) than Taka’s Kitchen but I can’t complain. Don’t be off put by the interior, the food speaks for itself. . . . → Read More: Jun’s Japanese – 19 Jan 2012

The Bonsai Restaurant Cafe and Lounge

Throughout the night, the service was excellent, attentive and efficient. While the food may look simple, it is anything but. That is the nature of Japanese cuisine. I really enjoyed my dinner and was full. All those little dishes add up fast and the dessert finished things off. Some dishes were tasty without being spectacular, but others were just delicious with lots of flavour. I particularly enjoyed the Wagyu Beef Tataki and the Tempura Soft Shell Crab while the Chocolate Indulgence was as the name suggested – superb! For 8 dishes at around $12 each on average, a total bill just under $100 is not bad. The entertainment book’s discount made it even better. . . . → Read More: The Bonsai Restaurant Cafe and Lounge
