Koko Black - Chocolate Display

Koko Black, a specialty chocolatier, serve up a range of delicious hand crafted chocolate varieties for you to take away. Aside from the chocolates on display, they also offer a few savoury items as well as the sweet, along with coffee and hot chocolate for you to enjoy in their salon. The hot chocolate was delicious with a lovely flavour of quality chocolate, although, it’s a bit pricey at $6.50. The individual chocolates are $2.10 each and are well worth the money. There’s other chocolate items to sample including boxed sets. I think having Koko Black in the heart of the Perth CBD will make it super popular. And who doesn’t like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter’s day? . . . → Read More: Koko Black – 7 Jul 14

Theobroma Chocolate Lounge - 23 May 2014

Theobroma Chocolate Lounge - Waffles With Ice Cream

Second time visit to Theobroma Chocolate Lounge, but this time for the food. I ordered waffles with ice cream and also a hot chocolate for breakfast. The waffles were delicious, contained ample delicious thick melted chocolate, and was topped off with the scoops of vanilla ice cream. I certainly brought a little bit of food envy around the table and it tasted as good as it looked. Very indulgent. I also had a hot chocolate made with milk chocolate and it was delicious. Not too milky or too chocolatey, just right. A great start to the day at Theobroma. . . . → Read More: Theobroma Chocolate Lounge – 23 May 2014

NSW, Sydney - Lindt Café

Lindt Café - Waffles

If you need something delectable and just want to treat or indulge yourself, then a visit to the Lindt Café is a must. I ordered a waffle for breakfast. It’s pretty good but not the best but the Lindt flavoured vanilla ice cream and the thick rich Lindt chocolate sauce are the elements which make it indulgent. The maccarons were tasty but I didn’t care that much for the chocolate hazelnut gateau. I’m not sure what the hot chocolate would be like but this is a place you can buy just about everything. . . . → Read More: NSW, Sydney – Lindt Café

VIC, Melbourne CBD - Cumulus

Cumulus Inc - Smoked Salmon, Sorrell, Dill & Grapefruit Juice

Unfortunately a changed menu left me with little choice to the dish I really wanted. That said, there’s lots of choice on the menu, it’s just that since I don’t like eggs, there wasn’t an item on the menu that I really wanted. I chose the smoked salmon on toast and received a decent amount of smoked salmon which isn’t cheap. With a lovely horseradish, some greens and dill on top of a lovely thick piece of toast, it was a good meal. I liked the fresh grapefruit juice but thought the $27 bill was rather steep (I realise there’s probably a surcharge for the ANZAC Day holiday). Obviously a highly popular place. . . . → Read More: VIC, Melbourne – Cumulus

VIC, Melbourne - Gelato Messina

Cafe Messina - Various Gelato Flavours

With an array of flavours and some interesting combinations, there’s something to suit your taste buds when it comes to a scoop or two of gelato. I chose passionfruit in a cup (cone also available) and it was soft, smooth, full of passionfruit flavour, a real freshness, and the seeds are included for crunch. So delicious, the closest thing to gelato I ate in Rome. . . . → Read More: VIC, Melbourne – Gelato Messina

VIC, Melbourne - Adriano Zumbo Pâtissier

Zumbo - Cakes Display

I’m such a fan of patisseries and seeing the amazing creations of Adriano Zumbo on MasterChef led me to make a special trip to one of his stores to try some of these wonderful creations. Looking at the display cabinets will leave you wondering what to choose as your eyes are immediately drawn to all kinds of creations and your mouth starts salivating. I chose a Pollock flight which was delicious, as too the maccaron and the pipeto. The beauty of his creations is they just don’t taste delicious, they look visually appealing not just on the outside, but even the inside. The Pollock flight once cut open, looks exactly like a fresh coconut – a bright white shiny flesh. How he manages to create effects like this is beyond me. . . . → Read More: VIC, Melbourne – Adriano Zumbo Pâtissier

After my lunch at Cafe Karache I still felt a bit peckish and walked past Churros Plus. I decided to give them another go despite my first experiencing yielding chewy churros with little chocolate sauce. This time, . . . → Read More: Churros Plus – 27 Aug 2013

Churros Plus - 22 Aug 2013

Churros Plus - Drizzled Churros

It’s great trying new things and I was excited to see a churros offering in the heart of the Perth CBD. Unfortunately they don’t deliver on taste as the churros was chewy and lacked sufficient chocolate sauce. In comparison to Chocolateria San Churro like the one I’ve eaten at in Northbridge, Chocolateria San Churro wins hands down, there is no comparison. Hopefully Churros Plus can lift their game because if it’s as good as what it should be, people will be flocking there given the foot traffic. . . . → Read More: Churros Plus – 22 Aug 2013

USA, Washington DC - Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe

Kramerbooks Cafe - Corn Grits & Cafe Sausage

I really enjoyed my two visits to Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe. It has a casual space and casual vibe with friendly staff. The menu has several American classics (well to me it was I guess it’s kind of standard in the US) and I enjoyed sampling some dishes in the grits, crab cakes, and key lime pie. The food is generous, tasty, and full of flavour. . . . → Read More: USA, Washington DC – Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe

France, Paris - Patisseries

Cafe Pouchkine - Display Cabinet

Cuisine: French, patisserie, dessert Location: France, Paris

One of my real foodie pleasures is indulging in delicious pastries and the French pastries are the best in my opinion. So since I’m in Paris, I ought to find a patisserie to meet my cravings. Fortunately, I didn’t need to look too far as down . . . → Read More: France, Paris – Patisseries
