Koko Black - Mango and Vanilla Ice Cream Spectacula

Koko Black’s new Summer Oasis range introduces patrons to two new items – salted caramel iced chocolate and, mango and vanilla ice cream spectacular. Today I returned to try the latter after enjoying the former last week. A very tasty, vanilla flecked ice cream combines superbly with the delicious refreshing mango coulis. The crunch provided by the caramelised wafer on top of the ice cream and the crunch of the coconut crumble at the base of the glass add different textures, flavours, and levels of sweetness to make this an excellent dessert for summer. I really enjoyed it. . . . → Read More: Koko Black – 29 Jan 2015

Koko Black - Salted Caramel Iced Chocolate

Koko Black’s new Summer Oasis range introduces patrons to two new items – salted caramel iced chocolate and, mango and vanilla ice cream spectacular. Tough choice but I went with the former. The first suck gives a bitter aftertaste, with high cocoa content chocolate used in making the iced hot chocolate. This is counteracted with the creamy vanilla ice cream, sweeter chocolate flakes, and of course, the caramel. It’s a very satisfying and decadent dessert that is also very filling. Probably for the price of a milkshake elsewhere, you can enjoy this piece of oasis in summer. I loved it and was just what I needed. . . . → Read More: Koko Black – 22 Jan 2015

It’s been some years since I last visited and after the first bite, I knew what I was missing – amazingly delicious, crispy yummy waffles. With several varieties to choose from, I opted for the strawberry waffle with chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This is a feel good dessert and I loved every bite of it. A Fish Called Inglewood - 27 Nov 2014

A Fish Called Inglewood - Crab & Corn Croquettes

A Fish Called Inglewood offers patrons a casual restaurant serving an array of different seafood dishes at affordable prices. I had a lovely entree of crispy crumbed crab and corn croquettes with oozing cheese. Despite the slight richness from the corn and cheese, the spicy ketchup was a fantastic touch to add a spicy element. For mains, I enjoyed a lovely juicy piece of seared salmon and it was served with a cold oven roasted vegetable array with moist, fresh, creamy avocado. The cold vegies may seem a little jarring but for the warm weather, it goes nicely. For dessert, we skipped the home made ice cream sticks and instead took home a tub of home made mango ice cream. The ice cream had a lovely mango flavour and was smooth and creamy. It’s lovely to see a casual relaxed place serving quality food with friendly service to boot. . . . → Read More: A Fish Called Inglewood – 27 Nov 2014

Noodle Forum - Crispy Chicken Fillet Noodle with Satay Sauce

Noodle Forum specialise in making noodles by hand on a daily basis and then incorporating the noodles into a variety of dishes which you can enjoy in comfortable surrounds or takeaway if you wish. I ordered the crispy chicken fillet noodle with satay sauce which was crispy for sure, but tender chicken on the inside. The thinnish noodles were delicious and enjoyed with the excellent satay sauce, crispy crackers, spring onions, cucumber and fried shallots. A delicious meal which is evident by the business of the restaurant. It obviously has a loyal band of followers. . . . → Read More: Noodle Forum – 5 Nov 2014

Maple Crepes Cafe - 11 Oct 2014

Maple Crepes Cafe - Nutella Supreme

I walked in and a look at the menu before settling on the Nutella Supreme $7.80 – Nutella, banana, strawberry, roasted almonds, oreos, peanut butter. After a reasonable wait the crepe was served. It looked really delicious! The crepe is quite a large size and well packed full of ingredients. The crepe itself is a little overdone, slightly crunchy, firm, leathery in some spots, and yet for the most part, it’s reasonably soft. I would have preferred my crepe to be cooked a little less. Having said that, each mouthful was delicious. The crepe’s filling contains lots of thinly sliced banana and strawberry pieces that are lovely and soft and warmed through. There’s a nice mix of nutella, adding just that touch of chocolate and sweetness, a bit more chocolate intensity from the crushed oreos, a bit of crunch from the flaked almonds, and a bit of gooeyness from the peanut butter. It’s a feel good dessert, big on the yum factor, big on comfort food. You leave with a smile and a full stomach. . . . → Read More: Maple Crepes Cafe – 11 Oct 2014
