I was back again at The Craftsman and so were many other people who packed out the venue on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the gnocchi ragu which presented a huge serving. The gnocchi was well cooked, soft and delicious and submerged in a flavoursome ragu sauce. I also enjoyed the chunks of lamb which was super soft after being braised long and slow in red wine. I was determined to grab dessert and the trio of desserts was clearly too much for one person, with no warning given by the waitstaff. Nonetheless, I polished off the sticky date pudding in a delicious caramel sauce, before making my way through nearly all the thick chocolate sauce surrounding the chocolate pudding which was very yum. The apple crumble is much more subtle and lighter in flavour which is much needed to compliment the other desserts. So stuffed! You definitely won’t go home hungry and you definitely get your money’s worth, just ensure you rock up with a big appetite otherwise your plate will be far from empty.

Stopping by for a movie, a few drinks, watching a sporting event, or to enjoy the live entertainment, The Craftsman serves a variety of dishes to suit a range of tastes in a lovely relaxed atmosphere with friendly service to boot. The dishes are very generous so I was really disappointed to pass on dessert which I eyed from the beginning. I shared an entree of sizzling garlic prawns smothered in a butter, onion, and bacon mix which was delicious. The juicy plump pawns were enjoyed with rice and a tangy salad with an excellent dressing. For mains I ordered the chicken Galliano which presented two well cooked chicken pieces wrapped in prosciutto. Each bite was delicious with the creamy vanilla infused mushroom sauce adding another facet to the dish. It was paired with risotto which was an unusual choice and while I enjoyed rich creamy food, the dish lacked balance via a salad, an acidic element, or steamed veggies to compliment the dish. Despite that, the hearty generous serving left me stuffed but satisfied. Aside from the menu, they have meal days like ribalicious Monday’s and there’s a variety of events on too.
